TIPS!

Beauty tip:

If in too much of a rush to wash your foundation brush in the morning before you use it, wash with shampoo in hot water and towel dry. The brush will dry instantly so no need to wait or use a blow dryer which can burn the bristles!

Finally the affordable statement winter shoe

Since brogues and loafers made a comeback I have been rigorously searching for the perfect pair of each in genuine patent leather, with a flat heel.

I have only just found this Nine West pair, they definitely fit the bill in terms of style but unfortunately, even at £65 they are of man made material.

Amazingly the quality is great and the colour is really fashion forward which is perfect as I am now late to enjoy this trend. I did have a soft leather black pair from Topshop a few years ago but they were not really worth mentioning!

One thing I also struggled with is the heel height, flats should be flat and in my opinion brogues do not look good with a bulky heel. These are just smart enough but still remain feminine.

<sigh of relief>

What do I want from a new high street collection.....

Cropped fur jacket, black patent loafers with small buckle, structural strapless LBD, cashmere vest tops, heavy pencil skirt, ankle strapped closed in heels, tailored slim fit patterned trousers........all the pieces only expensive designers produce.

If I can't find something - the answer should be - I make it myself!

I am not talking in the literal sense as I would need the relevant textiles skills and qualifications. Nevertheless, the idea of opening my own boutique is becoming more and more like a reality of the near future now.

At the moment I am on the hunt for those staple wardrobe pieces but I am finding it very difficult to locate those pieces within my budget. That is not to say I have a very tight budget suited to the likes of Primark and New Look attire. I am happy to pay the right price for a quality fabric that will last more than four washes and for genuine leather shoes.

-I do not understand why lingerie shops sell skin tight lacey dresses as the only nightwear alternative to boring cotton PJ's. How about a chic silk playsuit in a subtle nude or off white colour.

-Ankle straps can be really flattering so why not make more high heeled shoes with a strap and closed toe (no matter how much they try to put it out there, open shoes and tights are not a good look in the winter).

-Pointed shoes are so sophisticated and have merged back into the fashion arena lately. Why not add a modern twist and bring out an evening shoe with a pointed front AND platform with ankle strap or closed top design.

-Cheap stretchy jegging style fabric does not constitute as a pair of jeans so should not be sold as them!
